Map Multiple Elements Panel

This panel lets you map multiple copy elements to a single text area in Adobe Illustrator. You can also insert separators between copy elements. Graphic elements are not supported in this panel. The listed copy elements are sorted by sequence number, type, instance sequence, and language sequence.

Rich text formatting such as bold, italic, underline, subscript, superscript, and strikethrough in the content is displayed in this panel.

  • From the Artwork Assembly panel:
    1. Do one of the following:
      • Search for a POA and download it.
      • Create an Adobe Illustrator document and link it to a POA.
    2. Select an existing text area or create one. You can select regular or irregular shaped text areas.
    3. Optional: From the artwork assembly definition, select two or more copy elements.

      Ensure that the text area is not associated with any copy element from the artwork assembly.

    4. From the toolbar, click .

      Ensure that the text area is not associated with any copy element.

Actions

Action Description For More Information
Adds a marker. You can use the marker to insert intermediate content between copy elements. You can edit the content of the marker in the Artwork File Content column. You can select multiple elements and add markers between them.
Note: Markers are saved in the artwork whereas they are not saved in the GS1 response file.

Associates a text frame to the selected copy elements. Map Copy Elements


Disassociates a text frame from a copy element, candidate copy element, or a marker. Remove Copy Elements Mapping
Moves the selected elements up. -
Moves the selected elements down. -


Synchronize out of sync contents in an Adobe Illustrator document with the content in 3DEXPERIENCE.

When you work on content imported from a GS1 artwork content file, the copy elements in context are synchronized with the GS1 artwork content file.

Refreshes the artwork elements.

When you work on content imported from a GS1 artwork content file, this option is unavailable.

Columns and Fields

Column Name Description
Default marker value: Enter any character in the box to use as the default value of markers. You can click Update All Markers to apply the default marker value to all markers in the multimapped element.

Select the Add Markers automatically check box to add markers between artwork elements. If you do not select this check box, a message appears when you add artwork elements to the Map Multiple Elements panel asking if you want to add markers automatically.

Combined Text Area Name The name of the text area. Type a name for the text area and click Apply.
Copy Elements Section

This section lists the copy elements, candidate copy elements, and markers associated with the text area.



Activates filter boxes on all columns and lets you filter the contents of the columns.

You can enter any text in the filter box in any column to filter the contents of the column automatically.

You can click to hide the filter boxes and show only the filtered content. You can click to clear all filters.

Check box Check box to select each element.

When you select an element, a number is displayed based on the order of selection. When you clear the selection, the numbering of the selected elements are adjusted accordingly.

Element The type of the copy element or the candidate copy element. Shows Marker for markers.
The instance sequence value. For candidate copy elements, this field is editable. For copy elements, this field is not editable. For markers, this field is empty.
Language Locale The local copy language of the copy element.

For candidate copy elements, this field shows the locale sequence. If you enter a sequence number for a candidate copy element and click Apply, this field shows the locale sequence along with the language.

For markers, this field is empty.

State The lifecycle state of the copy element. This field is empty for candidate copy elements and markers.
Artwork File Content The content of the copy element, candidate copy element, or the marker as stored in the Adobe Illustrator CC document. You can edit the content. Click Apply to save the modifications. If this field is empty, it is highlighted in gray color.

If the content contains rich text formatting, it is shown in this column.

3DEXPERIENCE Content The content of the copy element in 3DEXPERIENCE. For candidate copy elements and markers, this field is empty.

If the content contains rich text formatting, it is shown in this column.



Shows if the copy element is not in sync with the content in 3DEXPERIENCE.

If the content of the Artwork File Content column does not match with the content of the 3DEXPERIENCE Content column by plain text or rich text comparison, is shown to indicate that the content is out-of-sync.

Type Assignment Section

This section lists the available candidate copy elements.



Activates filter boxes on all columns and lets you filter the contents of the columns.

You can enter any text in the filter box in any column to filter the contents of the column automatically.

You can click to hide the filter boxes and show only the filtered content. You can click to clear all filters.

Element Type Lets you filter elements by type.
Type Assignment Lists all supported GS1 types.
POA Artwork Assembly Section

This section lists the available copy elements. You can click the name of a column to sort it in ascending order and click it again to sort in descending order.

Wraps the text in the Content column.

You can click to hide the filter boxes and show only the filtered content. You can click to clear all filters.

Check box Check box to select each element.

When you select an element, a number is displayed based on the order of selection. When you clear the selection, the numbering of the selected elements are adjusted accordingly. The order of selection is considered when you add multiple elements.

Select the check box in the column to hide mapped elements.

Element Type The type of the copy element.
The instance sequence value.
Language The locale sequence number and the local copy language are displayed. The language code is also displayed if the content is imported from a GS1 content file.
Content The content of the copy element.
Notes The notes related to the copy element.
State The lifecycle state of the copy element.
Shows if the artwork element is mapped.
Preview The preview of the selected copy elements.

If the copy element contains rich text formatting, it is shown in the preview. You can click the copy element in the POA Artwork Assembly section or hover over the out-of-sync icon in the Copy Elements table to see the preview.

Notes The notes related to the selected copy elements.
Combined Text Preview The preview of the combination of the copy elements in the defined order. If the combined text contains rich text formatting, it is shown here.
Selected Text Area - Current Content The preview of the last saved combination of the copy elements in the defined order. If the selected text area contains rich text formatting, it is shown here.
Note: If you want to maintain styling and formatting on text areas, in the 3DEXPERIENCE Preferences dialog box, in the Artwork tab, selects Yes for the Server-side Text Style option.
