From the Authoring section of the action bar, click Covering

From the
Category list, select a covering category.
If no project dictionary is set in Data Setup, only the default category is available.

In the
Name box, enter a name for the covering object
or keep the system-generated name.

Under Support,
- Select a surface or a plane as a support.
You can select multiple supports and click Element List
to manage multiselection. - Optional:
Specify an offset from the selected support.
In case of multiple supports, you can select Common Offset
to apply the specified offset to all the selected supports. You can also set offsets to individual supports in the Element List dialog box.

Under Limits,
- Select limiting elements.
You can select a surface, plane, or output profile as a limiting element. - Optional:
Set an offset to the limits and change the orientation of the limits.
You can also set the offset and change the orientation using the handles in the 3D area.

Under
Material, Thickness & Orientation,

Set the orientation for the covering.

Decide the number of layers for the covering. To add a new
layer, click
Add.
The layer is added at the top considering the
orientation.

To remove a layer, click
Remove.
The layer at the top is removed.

Specify material and thickness for each layer.
You can select the Preferred values only check box to display the recommended combinations of material and thickness available in the material table. If the material table is not set in Data Setup, you can search and select the material from the database and enter the thickness value.
A color mask is available in the material list. It
indicates the color computed by the Color ID business rule for the
current feature.

Click
OK.
The covering is created.
- Optional:
To edit the covering, select the covering feature in the
3D area
or in the
tree,
and click
Edit Covering
on the
context toolbar.
