Setting Up a Project

You can prepare a CAD Model and BOM before maintaining it in 3DEXPERIENCE. Saving a project lets you assign a CAD Model to ECAD data, assign a 3DEXPERIENCE part for use as the Printed Circuit Board, or register a 3DEXPERIENCE part with the ECAD Assembly.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin: From a project, right-click an item in the project tree and select 3DEXPERIENCE > Setup Project for 3DEXPERIENCE.

Registering Documents

You can use the Register Documents tab to register a document in 3DEXPERIENCE with an ECAD object.

  1. To create a new document in 3DEXPERIENCE, click . Choose the required AutoName series and click OK.
  2. To use the ECAD data to define a 3DEXPERIENCE model, click .
  3. To search for a document in 3DEXPERIENCE click . The document search helps you locate a 3DEXPERIENCE CAD Model to register the selected ECAD data. For more information, see Searching for Documents.

Registering the BOM

You can assign a printed circuit board for a manufacturing variant to a part in 3DEXPERIENCE to use in the Bill of Materials. If you do not make an assignment, the AutoName of the manufacturing variant is used.

  1. In the Setup Project for 3DEPXERIENCE dialog box, click the BOM Registration tab.
  2. Click to search for a 3DEXPERIENCE part.
