Installing Web Apps

This topic describes how to install web apps. This procedure is presented generically and applies to most apps. For additional setup requirements for a specific app, refer to the app's installation or administration guide.

Installer and app setup media are now provided separately. As the app setup media does not contain the core installer files, you must extract and run the installer separately, prior to running the app setup.

Before you begin:
  • You must have access privileges to install software on the target computer. Otherwise, you can not start the installation.
    Linux
You must log in as root.
    Windows
You must log in as a user who belongs to the Administrators group or has the privileges assigned to the Administrators group.
  • Installation of apps requires prior installation of 3DSpace Service and of the mandatory apps linked to the Collaborative Industry Innovator (CSV) role. These apps are located under the CSV-CollaborativeIndustryInnovator directories on the AM_3DEXP_Platform assembly media. Precise instructions are given in the Readme_file_for_installation_of_specific_Roles.txt file in the folder 1 of this assembly media.

Apps linked to Engineering Release (XEN) role are located under the CSV-CollaborativeIndustryInnovator/3DExplore directory on the AM_3DEXP_Platform assembly media. Precise instructions are given in the Readme_file_for_installation_of_specific_Roles.txt file in the folder 1 of this assembly media.

Apps linked to 3D Product Architect (PAU) role are located under the CSV-CollaborativeIndustryInnovator/3DExplore and ENOVIAUnifiedX-CADDesignManagement directories on the AM_3DEXP_Platform assembly media. Precise instructions are given in the Readme_file_for_installation_of_specific_Roles.txt file in the folder 1 of this assembly media.

  • The other web apps are located on the AM_3DEXP_WebApps.AllOS media which contains several folders. Folder number 1 contains a separate folder for each web app that it contains. If there are installation prerequisites, a Readme.txt file is included in the web app's folder to describe the requirements.
  • As the Studio Modeling Platform is no longer a required component, the MX_CLASSPATH environment variable in the enovia.ini file (in the SERVER_INSTALL\PLATFORM\code\bin\ directory) must be prefixed with the server install path, which is SERVER_INSTALL\managed\properties;SERVER_INSTALL\PLATFORM\docs\javacommon;SERVER_INSTALL\PLATFORM\docs\javaserver;SERVER_INSTALL\PLATFORM\docs\custom;
  • Review the Program Directory, a website that organizes all of the release information for all Dassault Systèmes apps for a given release. It contains information about prerequisites, installation, licensing, app enhancements, general issues, open issues, documentation addenda, and closed issues.
  1. See Installer for instructions on unloading the media and launching the app installation.
  2. When the Setup program starts, specify where the 3DSpace Service installation files exist. If you want to change the location, click Browse and select the desired path.

    Click Next to continue.

  3. Choose the destination location for the app files. The default location is displayed. If you want to change the location, click Browse and select the desired path.

    Click Next to continue.

  4. Specify the name and password of a user having both Business and System Administrator privileges. If the user does not have a password, simply accept the default.

    Click Next to continue.

  5. Choose whether or not to update the database with new schema. By default Update database is selected. You should only uncheck this option when installing a hot fix. If you choose not to update the database during the installation, the scripts to add the schema will be generated for running later. See Installing the Schema Manually.
  6. For some apps, you may need to select the component that you wish to install.
For example, for Variant Management select Design Manufacturing Configuration Planning. You must have a license for all components that you wish to install.

    Click Next to continue.

  7. Some apps install schema; many do not. If the app installs schema, you must specify the directory where any custom schema files exist. The default location is displayed. If you want to change the location, click Browse and select the desired file path.

    Click Next to continue.

  8. When installing the Defect Management and Collaboration app, you must select whether you want to replace certain Product Line Management terms with app-specific strings. Select install strings page to agree to the replacement.

    Click Next to continue.

  9. Setup now gives you a summary of the information it will use to start copying the program files. Review all the information you provided. If you want to make any changes, click Back and make the desired changes. When you are satisfied with the changes, click Install to begin the installation.

Setup displays the status of the installation while it is in progress.

When the installation finishes, setup informs you with the message:
Setup has finished installing VERSION ENOVIA APP on your computer
    XXX - ENOVIA APP: installed.

where XXX is the app trigram.

  10. Click Close to exit setup and close the setup dialog box.
  11. If you have backups of customized properties files, compare your customized files with the new files from the updated version. Either update the new files with your customizations or update your customized files with any new properties.
  12. Install the online help. See Installing Help for Web Apps for details.
  13. Run the WAR Utility and deploy the app.
