About Moving Components

Moving a component involves taking into account the engineering connections network.

The move is consistent with the behavior you envision and complies with the degrees of freedom determined by the engineering connections network.

General

Prior to moving a component, you should consider the following:

To move a component with the robot, it must be under the active product.

When you move a product, the child components move along if the engineering connections network allows it, and flexible components are accounted for.

Important:

In a review, components involved in engineering connections may not be moved.

Whether a child component is constrained or not can modify the component's movement.

If a child component is involved in an engineering connection of another component within the product structure, the movement is determined by that engineering connection and restricted accordingly.

Components can be moved using the mouse with the Manipulate command, the Snap command or the Robot.

Robot

The Robot offers more capabilities to move components:

  • To move child components along with the product regardless of existing constraints press Shift.
  • You can move flexible component instances separately.

Manipulate

The Manipulate command lets you move components using the mouse and can take engineering connections into account.

Snap

The Snap command lets you snap a component onto another component, and takes engineering connections into account.
