Detecting Clash when Moving Components

You can move a component and detect the exact position before a clash.

For this, the Manipulation on Clash option allows you to detect the clash.

Important:
  • Using the Robot, a clash is detected only when at least one engineering connection exists in the assembly.

Pressing the Shift key deactivates the clash detection.

  • Using the Manipulate command means that engineering connections are not accounted for.
  • The 3D accuracy of clash detection directly depends on the one used for tessellation (SAG) on objects.

By default, this value is set to 0.20 mm, see 3D Accuracy.

Before you begin: Open an assembly containing at least one engineering connection.

  1. Drag the Robot onto the red component.
  2. Select V/Z axis on the Robot, then drag and drop the component to obtain a clash.

  3. In the App Options, select Manipulation on Clash .
  4. Move back the component from right to left, then from left to right to repeat the clash.
The application stops the move operation just before the clash occurs.

  5. Repeat the operation more quickly: the operation is stopped earlier, which makes the gap larger between both components.

What you need to know is that the more slowly you handle the mouse, the smaller the distance between the components will be.

  6. To quit this option, simply clear Manipulation on Clash .
