Modifying and Verifying the Sequence of Operations

Once you have created several operations, you can modify their sequence by grouping operations occurring simultaneously, modifying operations, or deleting operations (and their associated tracks). You can also verify that the operations run error-free in their sequence.

Modify the Operation Sequence

You can modify the sequence of operations by using drag and drop to group operations that occur simultaneously or to alter the order in which operations occur. You can also delete operations (and their associated tracks) or modify tracks.

  1. Select an operation that you want to move in front of another operation and drag it to the desired insertion point.

    Be sure to move the operation to the black bar separating two operations, and be sure that the cursor displays an arrow.

    The part is moved one operation before its original location.

    The sequence is reordered.
  2. Identify two operations that should occur simultaneously.
  3. Drag one of the operations so that the cursor is on top of the other operation.

    Make sure that the cursor displays two parallel lines.

    You have created a group of operations. The grouped operations are displayed in a vertical container under the group operation's thumbnail, and the thumbnail shows all the parts in the group.

  4. Add two more operations to the group.
    The group operation's thumbnail displays the moving objects of the operations (up to the first four objects). If needed, you can use the scrollbar to see the other thumbnails in the group.

    Note: You can move items in and out of the group using drag and drop, and you can modify the sequence of the group.
  5. Select an operation and press Delete.
    The track and its representation are deleted. The part moves back to its design position.
  6. Double-click an operation to edit its track.

    Once you have finished editing the track (selecting another operation from the sequencer exits edit mode), the part moves to the end of the modified operation.

Verify the Operation Sequence

You can verify that the discrete operations you have created work in sequence. As you select each operation, the operation is simulated automatically (that is, the part moves to the end of the track defined in the operation). If a clash occurs, the simulation stops and the corresponding operation is highlighted. You can continue the simulation and/or fix the problem (either by re-sequencing or by modifying the track).

  1. Highlight the first operation.


    The part moves into position.

  2. Use the mouse to scroll to the next operation.


  3. Continue scrolling until you have verified that the sequence has no problems.
