Simulating the Operations

To verify assembly and disassembly, you can simulate either individual operations or the entire sequence of operations using the Operations Sequencer.

Simulate a Single Operation

To verify a particular Loading or Unloading operation, you can simulate the movement of a part or sub-assembly along the defined track.

  1. Click the operation in the Operations Sequencer and click the part.
    A gray border surrounds the operation's thumbnail in the sequencer. The part moves to the end of the track and the part is highlighted in the 3D view.



    Note: The pre-highlighting behavior is as follows: when you move the mouse over the thumbnail of an operation, a gray border appears around the thumbnail in the sequencer and the part is pre-highlighted in 3D view.
  2. In the Compass, click the Play button.
    The part moves along the trajectory.

    Note that the Experience Player appears: you can use the buttons on the player to control the animation (play forward/backward, modify speed, and so on).



  3. When you are finished viewing the simulation, click the Play button to deactivate the command.

Simulate a Sequence of Operations

During simulation, each operation is highlighted as it executes. The sequence is automatically scrolled to keep the simulated operation in focus.

  1. Double-click an area outside of the Operations Sequencer to deactivate the current operation in the filmstrip.

    The current operation in this scenario is the first one, with a gray border around its thumbnail. The corresponding part is highlighted.



    If the operation is no longer activated, the corresponding part is not highlighted:

  2. In the Compass, click the Play button.
    A control bar appears to allow you to control the animation. A red bar moves through the Operations Sequencer as the sequence of operations is simulated.

    Notes: You can drag or stop the red bar at any point in the simulation and resume the simulation from that point.

    If a clash occurs during the replay, the simulation stops and the corresponding operation is highlighted. You can continue the simulation and/or fix the problem (either by re-sequencing or by modifying the track).

    To continue, press F4. This turns off clash detection. To be able to see the entire sequence but still retain clash detection, press F4 again. This enables clash detection with highlighting only; the simulation does not stop. To resume the simulation, click the Resume button.

    The error condition clears only when a successful simulation has been executed. Also, while an operation is selected and you scroll through the list of operations, the 3D synchronizes to the end of each encountered operation, allowing for a quick overview of the sequence.

  3. When you are finished viewing the simulation, click the Play button again to deactivate the command.
