Preview Pane

For experiments created in Scientific Notebook, the Preview pane contains all the same information as the Experiment page, in a read-only display. The actions available are restricted so that you cannot edit the experiment. For legacy experiments, the Preview pane displays the basic information for the experiment and any PDFs included during its import.

Scientific Notebook Experiment Preview

You can preview the Scientific Notebook experiments listed in the Home page, without opening the Experiment page.

Actions

The bottom of the Preview pane provides these actions:

  • : Opens the experiment in the Experiment page.
  • Close: Closes the Preview pane and returns the Home page to its full width.

Preview Pane Header

The header contains experiment information.

Action Description
Expands or collapses the Preview pane.
Title Reports the title of the experiment.
Experiment Details The high-level information for the experiment, such as the scientist, business unit, department, and plant along with the creation and modification dates.
Objective The objective of the experiment, generated by combining the experiment type and its project.
Collapses most of the experiment header to show only the title and actions.
Expands the experiment header to show all fields and actions.
Opens the User Assistance panel.

Write-Up Pane and Text Sections

The workspace beneath the top bar and experiment header contains the Write-Up pane, comprising one or more text sections.

Each text section can have a title, a body of text, and file attachments separated by dates reporting times of creation and last modification.

Formulation Pane

The Formulation pane displays a link to a formula defined in the Formulation Design app, its Formula Grid contents display but cannot be directly edited.

Legacy Experiment Preview

You can preview an imported BIOVIA Notebook or BIOVIA Workbook experiment in Scientific Notebook.

Actions

The bottom of the Preview pane provides these actions:

  • Open: Opens the experiment in its source application.
  • Close: Closes the Preview pane and returns the Home page to its full width.

Information Section

Field Description
Title The descriptive title provided by the experiment Author.
Creation Date The date of the experiment's creation.
Modified Date The date of the following:
  • For Scientific Notebook experiments, the date of their last modification.
  • For legacy BIOVIA Notebook experiments, the date on which the latest submission of the experiment completed.
  • For legacy BIOVIA Workbook experiments, the date of the last update to the experiment.
Imported The date of import of the experiment into the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. For experiments that are still being changed in their legacy applications, this date is normally the same as the Modified Date.
Lifecycle State

For Notebook experiments, the state is always Submitted..

For Workbook experiments, it is always Imported.
Renditions

For Notebook experiments, indicates how many times the experiment has been submitted and imported to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. The platform stores the imported experiment report for each submission.

For Workbook experiments, the value is always 1, because each successive import of an experiment replaces the previous import of the same experiment.
Project A cumulative list of all projects related to any of the experiment's updates and versions.

People Section

Field Description
Author Identifies the creator of the experiment.
Approvers Identifies all the people who have signed or co-signed for any of the experiment's versions.

Renditions

This section lists each imported part or version of the BIOVIA Notebook experiment, or the latest imported version of the BIOVIA Workbook experiment. Click a rendition to view its PDF report.
