Create a New Experiment Page
  1. On the Scientific Notebook Home page, click New.
  2. On the Create a new experiment page, enter a title for your experiment.
  3. Select appropriate values for all other required fields and options.

A red asterisk (*) denotes a required field.

Your selections in some fields can impact the values available in other fields. For example, if you select a Project that is restricted to specific departments, the Department field lists only those departments.

Note: You can only create experiments in projects for which you have create rights. For more information, see Projects.

The Experiment Type determines which panes you can use to describe your experiment, options are:

    • Generic - provides Write-Up and Materials panes.
    • Formulation - provides Write-Up and Formulation panes.
    • Synthetic Chemistry - provides Write-Up, Reaction Scheme, and Stoichiometry panes.

  4. Click Create.

Scientific Notebook creates your experiment and assigns it a unique ID. It displays this information in an Experiment page that you use to develop your experiment. For more information, see Write-Up the Experiment.

You can edit the basic definition of the experiment later. For more information, see Update an Experiment.
