Refining Content

You can add and save filters to any page, except the home page and shared pages on which you have been granted the read permission, to refine the content displayed.

Context: Applied filters appear on the Active Filters bar with the following color coding:

Filter Color Description
Blue background The content associated with the filter appears on the page.
Red background and strikethrough keyword The content that is associated with the filter is excluded from the page.
Gray background Filter has no effect because it is overridden by another filter.
White background Filter has no effect because there is no content associated with this filter on the current page.

Add Filters

You can use filters to refine the content displayed by widgets.

Filters are cumulative and applied to the whole application, meaning that they remain activated while you browse the other pages of the application, until you remove them from the Active Filters bar manually.

There are several ways to add filters to a page, which are explained below:

Add Filters from a Chart

Important: Filter modifications you make to a shared page are visible to any other user who has access to the page.

On a chart, click the item (a point on a line, a bar, an axis label, etc.) you want the page to be refined on.

Though it is possible to add filters from most charts, this feature is not available on all of them. If nothing happens when you click a chart item, it means that you cannot add filters from this chart.

The corresponding filter is added to the Active Filters bar and the page immediately reloads to apply it to its content. You can repeat the step to add more filters to the page.

Add Filters from the Top Bar

Important: Filter modifications you make to a shared page are visible to any other user who has access to the page.

You can:
  • Enter your search in the search box of the dashboard's top bar and click Search . For example, enter an owner/assignee's name to refine the search on his/her issues, and a state, to further refine issues on a specific state.
  • Click 6WTags and select tags. For more information, see 3DEXPERIENCE Platform: Searching for Content.

Add Filters from the Active Filters Bar

You can add filters from the Active Filters bar.

Important: Filter modifications you make to a shared page are visible to any other user who has access to the page.
Tip: This feature is especially useful to users who have gained good knowledge of all existing filters and want a quick access to them. If you are new to adding filters, use the refine panel. For more information, see Add Filters from the Refine Panel.

  1. From the Active Filters bar, click the Add a filter... field.
  2. Do any of the following:
    • Click a facet category name from the Most used filters list. You can click Exclude to add a filter that excludes the content associated with this category.
    • Enter a facet category name. The list will automatically suggests categories as you type. Click a suggested category name or click Exclude to add a filter that excludes the content associated with this category.
    • Drag a facet category label from the refine panel to the Active Filters bar.
      Tip: If the refine panel is not open, click Filter to open it.
    A filter is added to the Active Filters bar but it is not applied to the content of the page yet.
  3. Optional: Repeat step 2 to add more filters.
  4. When you have added all the filters you want, click Apply .

The page reloads to apply all the filters to the content of the page at once.

Add Filters from the Refine Panel

Important: Filter modifications you make to a shared page are visible to any other user who has access to the page.

  1. If the refine panel is not open, click Filter to open it.
  2. From the refine panel, add filters:
    Filter TypesSteps
    Date Filters
    • From the Actual Start section of the Refine panel, click Select Date Range , select a date range, and click Apply.

      The filter is added to the Active Filters bar and the page immediately reloads to apply it to its content.

    • From the Actual End section of the Refine panel, click Select Date Range , select a date range, and click Apply.

      The filter is added to the Active Filters bar and the page immediately reloads to apply it to its content.
    Range Filters
    1. Define a range by either:
      • Using the slider.
      • Entering a start and an end value in the two fields.
    2. Apply the filter by either:
      • Clicking Filter to add a filter that includes all content that is within the range you have defined.
      • Clicking Exclude to add a filter that excludes all content that is within the range you have defined.

    The filter is added to the Active Filters bar and the page immediately reloads to apply it to its content.
    Category Filters From the refine panel, either:
    • Click a category.
    • Click Exclude to add a filter that excludes the content associated with this category.

    The filter is added to the Active Filters bar and the page immediately reloads to apply it to its content. You can repeat the steps to add more filters to the page.

Delete Filters

You can delete filters:
  • One by one, by clicking Remove this filter either from the Active filters bar or from the Refine hand-right panel.
  • All at once, by clicking Remove current filters (Saved filters won't be removed) .

Save Filters

For each page, you can save filters so that they will always be applied when you open it. Saved filters are not applied to the other pages of the application while you browse them.

  1. On the page on which you want to save filters, add those filters. For more information, see Add Filters.
  2. Click Modify current page and select Save Filters.
    Saved filters are represented by a lock icon on the Active Filters bar.

Edit and Add Saved Filters

You can edit your saved filters to add one or several filters to the list.

  1. Add filters to the page. For more information, see Add Filters.
    These filters appear on the Active Filters bar, but are outside the Saved area as they not saved yet.
  2. From the Active Filters bar, hover over Saved and click Click to unlock .
  3. For each filter you want to add to the Saved filter list, drag to the Drop to add area that appears when you start dragging.
  4. Click Click to save .

Remove Saved Filters

Remove one or Several Filters from the Saved Filters List

You can edit your saved filters to remove one or several filters from the list.

  1. From the Active Filters bar, hover over Saved and click Click to unlock .
  2. On each filter that you want to remove from the selection, click Remove this filter .
  3. Click Click to save .

Remove all Saved Filters from the Page

You can remove all Saved filters from the page at once.

Click Modify current page and select Remove Filters.

Warning: There is no confirmation message and no undo.
