Working with Markups

You can mark a document in AutoVue 2D Viewer and store the markup information as an annotation file in the ENOVIA database.

You can create different types of markups for the files in ENOVIA database and each type has a different file format.

  • Normal Markup - This is the default type of markup that is saved as AutoVueMarkup format.
  • Master Markup - This is a master file which contains the details of all other markups. This markup file is saved as AutoVueMasterMarkup format. This file is checked out automatically when you view the associated markups.
  • Consolidated Markup - You can create new markups and consolidate them with the existing markups. The consolidated markup file is saved as AutoVueMarkupConsolidated format.

This task shows you how to:

Create Markups

You can create new markup for files in ENOVIA database using the AutoVue client.

  1. Open the file/design you want to mark from the AutoVue client.
  2. From the Markup menu, select New.

You can use the Properties option to enter details for the markup.

  3. Enter the Markup information.

    Important:
    • To create a markup you have to save markup. Markup file is a physical file which is created on hard disk. For more information, see Save Markups.
    • The AutoVue markups created by a user on an object can be modified by any other user. There is no access control on Markup handling. This is as designed behavior.

For example, If a markup is created by a user and needs to be reviewed by any other user or if any other user wants to add comments to that markup, then the other user can also modify the markup.

View Markups

You can view existing markups in the ENOVIA database.

  1. From the Markup menu, select Open.
A list of all Markup objects is displayed.
  2. Select one or all markups and click OK.

The selected markups connected to all versions of that object revision are displayed.

Notes:
  • You cannot view the markup file, if you use the option in the files tab of the markup detail page. An unsupported file format error is displayed.
  • You cannot view a markup from the Related Markup tab, if the object it is connected to has been renamed. An error message is displayed.
  • If you create a new revision of the data created using X-CAD Design Management then the old markups created in the previous revisions are not displayed in the new revision. Similarly, if you create new versions of files that are uploaded to Documents, then old markups created in previous versions of the files are not displayed in the newly checked in versions.

The AutoVue markups can be viewed only in the specific revision or version in which it has been created. This is as designed behavior.
