Managing Implement Relations with the Traceability Matrix

The Traceability Matrix displays the implement relations existing between two structures. You can create, edit, or delete implement relations between these two structures in this editor.

You can display implement relations between objects from the following categories:

  • Requirement and Functional/Logical/Physical
  • Functional and Requirement/Logical/Physical
  • Logical and Requirement/Functional/Physical
  • Physical and Requirement/Functional/Logical

This task shows you how to:

Display Implement Relations in the Traceability Matrix

You can display the implement relations existing between two structures.

  1. In the Relational View tab, click Traceability Matrix for the object for which you want to display the implement relations.

    Note: Only the occurrence-occurrence links are displayed.



    In a cell:

    • A green check indicates that an implement link is created from the object in the tree (row) to the object in the column.
    • A gray check indicates that at least one object of the column's substructure is linked to the object in row.

  2. Optional: To display the path of an object, pause your pointer over a column title.

Manage the Traceability Matrix Display

Once displayed, you can customize the Traceability Matrix view.

  1. To filter components, click Filters and for each section, click to hide components:
    OptionDescription
    Options If selected, parents node leading to visible nodes appear in lowlight. if not selected, they are not displayed.
    Allocated Filter lines and columns where there is an allocation.
    Not allocated Filter lines and columns where there is no allocation.
    References Filter different types of references.
    Instances Filter different types of instances.
  2. To manage the tree display, right-click a node.
    The context menu allows the row display management.
  3. To invert columns and rows, select Switch Columns/Rows .
  4. To export the Traceability Matrix in an .xls format, click Export to Excel .
    The created file is displayed in Excel.

Create/Edit Implement Relations in the Traceability Matrix

You can create, modify, or delete implement relations from the Traceability Matrix.

  1. To create an implement relation, click an empty cell. For more information, see Creating Implement Relations.
  2. To modify an implement link, click a cell and select one of the following commands:
    • Properties : To display the Properties dialog box. The implemented and implementing entities are displayed in the Details tab.
    • Delete Relation : To Deletes implement relations.
  3. To change the root, right-click a line or column header, and then select Set as root.

    Note: The root can be restored by right-clicking the line or the column and selecting Restore root.
