Creating a Connection Hole Component

This task explains how to create a connection hole component.

You can also create a rectangular pattern of holes.

Create a Single Hole

  1. From the Component section of the action bar, click Connection Rectangular Hole .
  2. In the Connection Rectangular Hole dialog box, specify the name of the hole component.
  3. Click Sketcher to sketch a contour for the hole.

    The contour must be closed and properly constrained.



  4. Under Parameters,
    1. Specify the values of the Diameter and Depth parameters.

      Note: Diameter and depth are mandatory parameters, and they are created by default.

      On the diameter parameter, define a formula with the diameter of the circle (sketch).

    2. Optional: Click Add Parameter to create additional parameters.
    3. Under the Expose column, set the parameter visibility as Public or Private. The public parameters will be visible and editable in the Parameter Editor dialog box, while creating and instantiating a connection assembly.


  5. Click OK.
  6. Optional: To edit the hole component, select it in the 3D area or the tree, and click Rectangular Connection Hole on the context toolbar.

Tip: You can also create a new connection hole component using an already existing hole component. Click Search Catalog or Search Library to search a catalog or library, and select an existing hole component from it.

All the boxes are filled automatically with the inputs and parameters of the selected hole component. You can modify the inputs and parameters, as required for the new hole component.

Create a Rectangular Pattern of Holes

  1. In the Connection Rectangular Hole dialog box, click Rectangular Pattern .
  2. Sketch a contour for the hole.
  3. Under Parameters,
    OptionDescription
    Diameter Diameter of the hole. On the diameter parameter, define a formula with the diameter of the circle (sketch).
    Depth Depth of the hole.
    H Count Number of holes in H direction.
    V Count Number of holes in V direction.
    H Pitch Spacing between consecutive holes in H direction.
    V Pitch Spacing between consecutive holes in V direction.


  4. Click OK.
