About Beam Sections

A beam section defines properties of a 1D beam—a long structural element whose cross-section is very small in comparison to its length.

Defining Beam Sections

Beam sections are applied to lines, which—from a geometric standpoint—have no thickness. A material, a beam profile, and an orientation are assigned to the line as part of the beam section definition. During the simulation the beam profile is considered as having the original line at its centroid, unless you customize its offset position.
