Moving Volumes

You can change the position of a volume in the 3D area.

This task shows you how to:

Move a Volume with a Robot

You can move a volume using the robot.

  1. Select the volume.
  2. From the Volume section of the action bar, click Move Volume .
  3. Use the commands to define the position and the orientation of the robot. For more information, see Robot Positioning.
  4. Use the robot handles to move the volume.
  5. In the placement panel, click Move Volume to Selected 3D Position to validate the new position.

Move a Volume by Defining an Offset Distance

You can move a volume by specifying an offset.

  1. Select the volume.
  2. From the Volume section of the action bar, click Move Volume .
  3. Click Offset Positioning .
  4. In the 3D area, select a surface, an edge, or a point of another object.
    The visualization of the equipment rotates so the “Z|W” axis is aligned with the orthogonal direction of the selected object.

    A ruler appears with the value of the offset.

  5. Optional: To edit the value of the offset, click it and enter the new value.
  6. Click Move Volume to Selected 3D Position to validate the new position.

Move the Volume Using a 3D Coordinate

You can move a volume by specifying a 3D coordinate.

  1. Select the volume.
  2. From the Volume section of the action bar, click Move Volume .
    A placement toolbar appears.
  3. Enter the coordinates to define a new position.
  4. Define where to display the coordinates:
    • Position Parent : The coordinates are displayed in the parent’s referential.
    • Position Global : The coordinates are displayed in the global referential of the product structure root.
  5. In the placement panel, click Move Volume to Selected 3D Position to validate the new position.
