Creating Datums

You can create a datum on a 3D view or directly on a model. You can add datums to edges, faces, dimensions or geometric tolerance to add it as a reference.


Before you begin: Open or import a model in the app.

Attaching Datum to Dimension
  1. Activate a 3D View from the Manager panel.

  2. From the action bar, select Annotation> Datum .
  3. In the Datum dialog box, enter a value for Label.

    A is the default identifier.

  4. Expand Datum attachment and choose a position for Datum attachment. Select one of the following:
    OptionDescription
    On Geometry Datums can be attached to a face or an edge of a geometry.
    On Geometrical Tolerance/Dimension Datum can be attached to a geometric tolerance or dimension.
  5. Select a geometry for which the datum needs to be attached.

    You can select edges, geometric tolerance, or dimension as per your selection for Datum attachment.

  6. Choose a value for Termination symbol style.
  7. Click Apply and repeat.
    The datum is created on the selected component. The dialog box remains open. You can create multiple datums at once. Click to save changes and close the dialog box.

    You can move and change the position of the datum and can also rotate it.

    You can edit the datum using the context toolbar. For more information, see Context Toolbars.

The created datum is displayed under the selected view in the tree.
