Creating a Standard Layer

You can create a layer, that represents a given material laid on top of another layer.

  1. From the Model section of the action bar, click Layer and select a layer group.
  2. Alternatively, double-click a layer in the tree, or select a layer and click Layer.
    Edition mode is started. Operation mode is the same as for the creation, except that the dialog box is filled with the values of the current layer.
  3. Optional: Replace the default name with a more significant one.
  4. Define the contour.
    • Either create a sketch positioned on the defined plane, with the origin and u,v direction retrieved from the stacking definition. It represents the layer boundary.

    • Or create a symmetry.
  5. Click to select a material.
  6. If the layer does not share the same machine or cross direction as the stacking,
    • Press Rotate: +90deg. Both directions are rotated.
    • Or select Invert machine direction. Only the machine direction is inverted.
  7. From the color editor, pick the color to display the layer.
  8. Select a Length inside the constraints node of the sketch.
    This Length is added to the layer parameters. The parameter is linked to the Length constraint to expose the parameters driving the geometry. The name of the parameter is that of the constraint.
  9. Optional: Select the Hide all except this layer check box.
  10. Validate.
    • The last geometry of the geometry set node is analyzed. As many layer domains as existing layer geometries are created.
    • A Layer node is added to the tree. It contains
      • A Material Properties set
      • A Parameters set, to be populated with your parameters, those of the sketch or of the rectangular pattern (if any).
      • A Relations set
      • A Layer Geometry Set
      • A Layer Domains Set
        Note: Order of layer domains is not guaranteed, but this does not impact the design.
