  1. From the Model section of the action bar, click Sweep Layer and select a layer group.
  2. Alternatively, double-click a layer in the tree, or select a layer and click Sweep Layer.
Edition mode is started. Operation mode is the same as for the creation, except that the dialog box is filled with the values of the current layer.
  3. Optional: Replace the default name with a more significant one.
  4. Select a cross section or create one with a sketch.

For more information on working with the Sketcher, see 3D Modeling Core: Sketcher.

  5. Select guide lines, or create them with a sketch, a pattern, or a symmetry.

For more information on creating patterns, see Patterning.

  6. Click to select a material.
  7. If the layer does not share the same machine or cross direction as the stacking,
    • Press Rotate: +90deg. Both directions are rotated.
    • Or select Invert machine direction. Only the machine direction is inverted.
  8. From the color editor, pick the color to display the layer.
  9. Optional: Select the Hide all elements except the Sweep Layer check box.
  10. Validate.
A Sweep Layer node is added to the tree, in the Layer Group defined asWork Object if any, or in the last Layer Group of the stacking otherwise. It contains:
    • The Material Properties
    • The Layer Geometry Set
    • The Layer Domain Set
    • The Cross Section Set.
Note: A Sweep Layer supports the following transformations:
    • Mechanical Cut
    • Strain Transformation
    • Fold Transformation
    • Relimitation
    • Fold Line.
    A Sweep Layer
    • Does not support Fold,
    • Has no draped view.
    • Provides weight computations only for StrandedMaterial.
