Creating a Lossless Cut

You can create a lossless cut on one layer or on one group of layers.

Before you begin: A stacking with at least one layers group must exist.

  1. From the Transformation section of the action bar, click Lossless Cut
  2. Optional: Replace the default name Lossless Cut.n with a more significant one.
  3. Select the Elements to Cut, either layers or elastic layers.

Note: Density and profile layers are not supported.

  4. Define the Cutting geometries: Either select or create a sketch, a pattern, or a symmetry.

For more information on working with the Sketcher, see 3D Modeling Core: Sketcher.

  5. Define the area inside which cutting geometries are taken into account. Either select or create a sketch, or a symmetry.

The area must be a rectangle, lying on the stacking plane.

  6. Press Preview to verify the proposed result.

  • A Transformation Tools is created after the stacking.
  • A Lossless Cut feature is created inside the Transformation Tools.
  • For each selected layer, the representation of the result is displayed on top.

  • Any transformation applied to a layer after the lossless cut is applied to the lossless cut representation. Below is an example with a strain transformation.
