Creating Relimitations

You can relimit layers, by adding material to redefine the boundary of the layers. . Relimitation simulates the cut of infinite ribbons to create layers. Each relimiting zone contains a relimiting wire, a direction of relimitation (Machine direction, cross direction, or both), and a direction to indicate the side to keep.

Note: Do not apply a relimitation on a layer after another transformation (Fold or Strain Transformation). This would lead to inconsistent results.

  1. From the Transformation section of the action bar, click Relimitation .
  2. Optional: Replace the default name Relimitation.n with a more significant one.
  3. Select the elements to relimit.

Note: They can be layers, layers groups or a stacking.

  4. Define the relimiting zones.
    1. Select + to add a relimiting zone.
    2. Select - to remove a relimiting zone.

Note: At least one relimiting zone must remain.

    3. Select the Deactivate check box to deactivate the zone without deleting it.
  5. For each relimiting zone
    1. Optional: Replace the default name Relimiting Zone.n with a more significant one.
    2. Select or create the relimiting element.

      • It must lie on the stacking plane.
      • It can only be one sketch.
      • It must be larger than the relimited layer.
      • You can select, create, or edit one, or create the symmetry of an existing one.

For more information on working with the Sketcher, see 3D Modeling Core: Sketcher.

Note: Click Parameters in the tree to create parameters from the context toolbar.

    3. Select the Add Material Direction from the list.

      It can be

      • The machine direction
      • The cross direction
      • The machine and cross direction.

    4. Optional: Select the Extend Non Intersected Domains check box.

For more information, see About Relimitation.

An arrow in the 3D area indicates the side to keep.
  6. Click the arrow to keep the other side.
    • A Transformation Tools is created after the stacking.
    • A Relimitation feature is created inside the Transformation Tools.
    • It contains the Relimiting Zones.
