You can edit the parameters and variables of the simulated model.

Before you begin: Create an assessment template. For more information, see Managing Assessment Templates.

  1. To open the variable and parameter editors, do one of the following:
    • Double-click a component.
    • Right-click a component and select Edit Component .
The diagram now shows the following dialog boxes:
    • Variables: A variable editor on the upper-left corner of the component.
    • Parameters: A parameter editor on the upper-right corner of the component.
    • Plotter: An empty plot on the lower-right corner of the component for visualizing the simulated variables.
Tip: You can drag variables and parameters from the respective editors into a plot.
  2. In the variable and parameter editors, activate the variables and parameters of interest under the Exposure column.

Note: The activated variables and parameters are visible in the Model Specifications dialog box for exploring the changes. For more information, see Managing Model Specifications.

  3. Optional: To filter the list of variables and parameters:
    1. Click .
    2. Enter the search terms in the Filter variables and Filter parameters boxes respectively.
  4. Modify the parameter values under the Value column.

An orange highlight appears on the modified parameters and the component in the diagram. A Simulation NOT up-to-date message appears in orange color at the upper-left corner of the widget window and next to the Simulate option in the cockpit view.

Important: You need to simulate the model again to update the simulation results. For more information, see Simulating a Model.
Tip: If the unit of a parameter is different from the unit specified in the preferences, the parameter is highlighted in blue color under the Unit column. The parameter values defined using expressions are highlighted in this manner.
  5. To define a range for a parameter:
    1. Right-click anywhere along the parameter row and select Advanced Properties .
    2. In the Advanced Properties dialog box, specify the minimum and maximum limits.
Depending on the value, the parameter is highlighted in one of the following colors under the Value column:
    Value Highlight Color
    Value within range Green
    Value outside range Red
    Value is an expression Orange
Warning: You can simulate a model even if the values of the parameters are not in the specified range. A warning is displayed for each of these parameters at the end of the simulation.
Tip: When you hover over a parameter value, a tooltip displays the parameter range and additional highlight details.
