About Materials

You can define and apply a PLM material to a material proxy, that is a concept material. You can apply the material to layer and concept connection properties and assign them to concept surfaces. Layer and Concept Connection properties require a reference to a PLM Material.

About Properties

The Concept Materials command, introduced as a proxy, lets you manage this PLM Material reference. In addition, you can share the Concept model with a valid material distribution without publishing confidential information about the material properties in the OEM specific database. To apply a Concept Material to FE Properties, each Concept Material has a unique identifier (Concept Material ID). A valid mesh for simulations is only generated if you connect the Concept Material with a reference to a PLM Material in 3DExperience database.

A Concept material has the following attributes:

  • Reference to a PLM material
  • User-defined Concept material name
  • A used flag indicating that the material is used in specifications

In the Concept Material Menu, you can enter any text as Concept material name and a reference to a PLM Material. Use the Search options to select a material from the 3DEXPERIENCE database.
