A plant is a manufacturing location attached to a company. You can create plants for companies, or business units. Plants are used to associate manufacturing responsibility for parts.
You can define the nonproduction days for each plant. This information is used to validate the start date of manufacturing change orders (MCOs). It also can be used to calculate the MCO start date offset and end date offset, depending on the setup (see the Manufacturing BOM
Management
User's Guide for details). The values for nonproduction days can be defined by editing the Plant properties by providing a list of comma-separated date values in mm/dd/yyyy format.
When creating
a route template or member list, you can select a plant as the owning
organization to determine the access for manufacturing responsibility
for approval and distribution lists.
