About Visualization

The Visualization panel provides with options for displaying the road or the railway. Customizing the display of the road or the railway helps you visualize the distribution of the road and the limits of the horizontal alignment. The Visualization panel is composed of two sections, Stationing and Footprint, described below.

Stationing

This section provides you with more information about the different options available in the Stationing section of the Visualization panel.


Option	Description
Display stations	Hides/Shows the stations for the edited alignment. It begins from the alignment start point and it ends at the alignment end point. The alignment start point has the same representation as the regular stations. The color of the main stationing stations is now driven by the color of the alignment start point.
Display minor intervals	Hides/Shows the minor intervals between the stations, for the alignment.
Display labels	Adds a label in the station names, for the alignment. A label is the text displays on a station of a given stationing.
Display key points	Hides/Shows key point labels on both horizontal and vertical alignments. When you use this option from the vertical alignment, it also acts on the horizontal alignment.
Display event points	Hides/Shows event point labels on both horizontal and vertical alignments. When you use this option from the vertical alignment, it also acts on the horizontal alignment.
Display survey points	Hides/Shows survey point labels on both horizontal and vertical alignments. When you use this option from the vertical alignment, it also acts on the horizontal alignment.
Invert display side	Lets you change the display side of the label.
Text size	To make the text size bigger or smaller.
Offset from alignment	To modify the offset from the alignment, between the station name and the alignment.
Display vertical context	To display stationing from vertical alignment.

Footprint

This section provides you with more information about the different options available in the Footprint section of the Visualization panel.

Road Alignment Visualization


Option	Description
Footprint Visualization	Displays the alignment visualization. If cleared, the visualization preferences are not impacted but nothing is drawn along the horizontal alignment. If selected, the preferences defined by the user are displayed.
Right of Way	Shows the right of way defined in the alignment specifications. The distance defined in the panel corresponds to the total length of the right of way. For each side, the right of way is the half of the value in the panel and starts from the center of the alignment.
Safety Zone	Shows the safety zone defined by the user. The distance defined in the panel corresponds to the length starting after the roadway. This is the same length for the two sides.
Width	Shows the borders of the horizontal alignment.
Distribution	Shows the representation of the different lanes along the horizontal alignment: center lane, left and right lane distribution, left and shoulder distribution.

Note: You can change the color of the visualization for each option.

Railway Alignment Visualization


Option	Description
Footprint Visualization	Displays the alignment visualization. If cleared, the visualization preferences are not impacted but nothing is drawn along the horizontal alignment. If selected, the preferences defined by the user are displayed.
Right of Way	Shows the right of way defined in the alignment specifications. The distance defined in the panel corresponds to the total length of the right of way. For each side, the right of way is the half of the value in the panel and starts from the center of the alignment.
Width	Shows the borders of the horizontal alignment.

Preferences

You can customize the display of points for vertical and horizontal alignments by clicking Show Preferences in the Visualization panel.

The Show Preferences panel lets you customize the display for the following types of point:

Horizontal key points
Vertical key points
Event points
Survey points

For each of them, you can specify a text. If the description of the point is set to %a, the modification is automatically applied. You can also change the color, the symbol, and the output status. These modifications apply only for the next created points. If you have already created points, they keep the previous customization. To apply your changes to these points, you can click Apply customization to all existing points .

Default Customization Values

The default values for customizing the display of key points are defined in an XML file. You can directly edit this file to modify the display of points.

If you want to restore the customization of this file in the Preferences panel, click Update custom configuration .
