Component Section

The Component section provides commands for managing components.

Define Component
Defines a component from a 3D part or an assembly.
Use this command to define two types of components:
  • Object type-based component: publishes axis systems (Base Axis System), recommended before assigning a product-based design model to an object type.
  • Product-based component: creates the publication and assembly features of product-based component.
See Defining Components.
Change Level of Development
Promotes the user defined features and engineering templates to the next level of development by updating and exposing the view of the component specification features.
Use this command with object type-based components.
See Changing the Level of Development and Diagnosing Computation Incidents.
See also About Change Level of Development.
Component Placement
Inserts or positions components. You can:
  • Place a selected component on an component specification feature.
  • Populate a component specification feature from a compatible component found in the database.
See Placing Components.
Component Impacts
See Flyout for Impacts.

Flyout for Impacts

Component Impacts
Creates impacts after the instantiation of a component, creates and edits impacts of already instantiated components, and propagates impacts when adding new instances of components.
The computation of the impacts relies on the detection of clashes between visible elements. Hide clashing elements to ignore them during the computation.
See Defining Technological Impacts of a Civil Engineering Component on its Environment.
Impacted by Components
Creates the impacts of selected components on one or several representations.
See Creating Technological Impacts on Representations.
