Checking BIM Completeness

You can check the Building Information Modeling (BIM) is complete as the project progresses. You can identify the lacks of information (attributes) and analyze the mockup from a global point of view (not entity by entity). For this, you have a direct access to B.I. Essentials and BIM completeness within the Building and Civil Assemblies app. B.I. Essentials enables you to get information on the 3D objects in session.

With this command, the access of the B.I. Essentials and BIM completeness is simplified by reducing the number of clicks needed to choose this BIM. By default, you can still access the B.I. Essentials list, from the Tools section of the action bar by clicking B.I. Essentials . For more information about B.I. Essentials, see Using B.I. Essentials.

Adding and Editing BIM Attributes
  1. From the BIM section of the action bar, click BIM completeness which is a shortcut for B.I. Essentials.
The B.I. Essentials panel contains a color code and the BIM completeness panel contains the following lists for the LOD, Filters, Results, the Check command to analyze the presence of attributes in your model. For more information, see BIM Completeness.
  2. To find the missing attributes for a given LOD, select a Level of Development (LOD) from the list and click Check.
The command processes the model to look for missing data. Colors are applied to the 3D representations and products in the tree and in the 3D area corresponding to their completion status regarding the desired LOD.
  3. To assign a value to missing attributes automatically in the BIM Attributes panel, through the BIM Attribute Completion Business Rule in Data Setup, select one or several IFC attributes in the Results list and click Correct in the BIM completeness dialog box.
The attributes get the Complete status in BIM Completeness because they have the required data and they are defined/computed in the corresponding boxes in BIM Attributes.
  4. To see the analysis about the model completeness, click Results from the list.
When a BIM manager considers that an attribute is not necessary at the beginning of the project, he can assign a large LOD number to it (LOD 500). For more information, see Using the BIM Manager Editor. Therefore, it is not detected in BIM completeness during the preliminary design stages.
  5. To filter on types (for example, column), click Filters from the list and select a type.
Checking can process only a portion of the model.
  6. To filter on extensions, click Filters and select an extension.
It allows a specific data checking.
