About Milestones

A milestone is an event that defines a significant change or stage in product development. In several industries, it is complicated to manage configured products with multi-dimension variation conditions. As a result, Configured Managers use this evolution related configuration criterion to introduce new features or technology in a design or product structure without interrupting past and present configurations.

Editing Variant/Option Effectivity of an Instance

Milestone effectivity enables you to synchronize parts and designs consistently across all domains without the use of date for all model versions. This effectivity is preferred as compared to Date effectivity, as Milestone effectivity allows you to standardize the project deliverables. Date effectivities constantly move with the project dates, therefore, enormous effort is required to maintain accurate dates when parts or designs are used across products or model years with different timelines.
