Displaying Instance Effectivity Using Properties

You can display complex and decoupled effectivities of an instance with different possible levels of details.


Before you begin:
  • Open a configured product structure in Product Structure Design or explore the configured product structure in the Product Finder work area.
  • You must have the Configuration Management license role to edit the effectivity.

  1. To open the Effectivity tab in the Properties dialog box, right-click the product instance of your choice and select Properties .
    The Properties dialog box appears.
  2. Select the Effectivity tab.
    The Effectivity tab displays the Global effectivity expression of the instance (with inherited effectivities if any).
  3. Select the Expand inherited effectivities check box, to see the resolved view of the effectivity expression of the inherited instances.

    The Expand inherited effectivities check box is disabled if none of the models possess any inherited effectivities.

  4. Click Show Details to see the detailed view of the local and inherited effectivity of each model dictionary.
  5. Click Synchronize to synchronize the effectivity cache.

    Note: If the effectivity cache is not updated with the inherited effectivity, then the Synchronize option appears.

    You can customize the display of the effectivity expression in the Properties dialog box or as tooltip, by applying a style sheet (.xsl).

    For example, you can replace AND with ; and OR with | in the customized XSL file. This customization impacts the display of the effectivity expression in the PLM Compass and the Effectivity tab in the Properties dialog box.
