Using Favorites

Favorites enable you to bookmark work contexts. You can also exchange your favorites with your colleagues.

This task shows you how to:

Add a Favorite

Add a favorite enables you to bookmark contexts.

In the Tools section of the action bar or in Me > My Favorite Content, click Add to Favorites .
A message will appear indicating that a Favorite has been created. The Favorite will now be visible in the Favorites menu and in My Favorites Content.

Add a Favorite With a Custom Name

You can add favorites with a name that you choose.

  1. In the Tools section of the action bar or in Me > My Favorite Content, click Add to Favorites As .
  2. In the dialog box, enter the name of your choice.
    The favorite is created accordingly.

Accessing Your Favorites

Favorites that you've created can be accessed in several ways.

There are several ways in which to access favorites:
  • in the Tools section of the action bar, click My Favorite Content , or
  • in Me > My Favorite Content, click My Favorite Content or
  • in the Search options list, select My Content, and in 6WTags > What > Category, click My Favorite Content, or
  • do a search using a Favorites shortcut.

Search for Favorites using Shortcuts

You can search for favorites from the Search using shortcuts.

In the Search Criteria box, enter a search string preceded by one of the below shortcuts (defined queries) and click Search :

  • "fav:" for all favorites items
  • "favnav:" for navigation favorites
  • "favautho:" for authoring favorites.

A Search Results will appear with the results of your search.

Open, Rename and Delete Favorites

From

  1. in the Tools section of the action bar, click My Favorite Content or select Me > My Favorite Content.
    Your favorites content is displayed.
  2. In your My Favorites Content, right-click a favorite and select one of the proposed actions:
    • Open Favorites (the default is Dynamic mode)
    • Open Static Favorites
    • Rename Favorites
    • Delete Favorites.
    Notes:
    • The same commands can be launched on favorites displayed in a search result.
    • If the Rename command is launched on multi-selected favorites, the Rename dialog box will propose the renaming of the last-selected favorite.

Update a Favorite

You can update the content of an existing favorite with the content of the current tab.

  1. Open a Favorite.
  2. In the Tools section of the action bar or in Me > My Favorite Content, click Save Favorite Content .
    The Favorite will be updated with the content of the current tab.
    Note: If you've just created a new favorite from the current tab content, you can also continue to modify the content and then update the favorite using this command.

Exchange Favorites

You can exchange favorites between users.

  1. Search for Favorites. See Search for Favorites using Shortcuts.
  2. Select the Favorites you want to transfer to another user.
  3. Click the North quadrant of the Compass (Social and Collaborative) and click Collaborative Lifecycle.
  4. In the Ownership section of the action bar, click Transfer to User.
    A message indicates that you need to search for people.
  5. Search for the person to whom you want to transfer the favorites, i.e. in the Search box, enter person: + the user's identifier.
  6. Enter the necessary identification parameters of the user to whom you want to transfer the Favorites and click OK.

The next time the other user opens a new session, the favorites you just transferred will be among that user's favorites.

Important: When a User1 transfers a favorite to User2, the transferred favorite will remain in the Favorites menu of User1 for the remainder of the current session.
