Creating a Controlled Print

You can generate a controlled print only for the Release SnapShot report. With controlled print, you can track the number of prints issued for a product data and the current status of each controlled print.

Before you begin:
  • The part must be in the Released or Complete state.
  • You must have the role of a Document Center Administrator.

  1. To generate a controlled print, do any one of the following:
    • From the Properties tab of a part, click .
    • From the Reports tab of a part, click .
  2. Enter the following details:

    Field NameDescription
    Reason for PrintEnter the reason you are generating a controlled print.
    RecipientEnter the recipient name who receives the controlled print.
    Print MethodSelect one of the following:
    • Print Using Server: The file is sent to the printer for printing.
    • Print Using Local Machine: You can view the controlled print pdf in a browser.
    Server Print OptionsThis option is enabled when you select Print Using Server.
    • It displays the list of printers that you are connected to.
    • Select the check box Set As Default, to make the printer selected as the default choice.

  3. Click Done.
    A controlled print is generated and the details of that particular print are added to the Controlled Print page.
