Material Properties

You can view the details for materials.

Required access roles:

  • Baseline: Author, Leader, Owner
  • App-specific: Compliance Administrator, Compliance Engineer, Senior Compliance Engineer

If you only have the Platform Contributor license and Review and Approve option with the Product Engineer license role, you only see basic information about the material and you cannot perform any actions.

Note: You have the Platform Contributor license if you see Collaborative Business Innovator and Collaborative Industry Innovator in the list of My Roles when you open the Compass. The Review and Approve option cannot be selected as a role and does not show in any lists.

To access this page:

  1. Open the required material.
  2. In the navigation pane, click the name of the material.

Fields

Field Name Description
Type Type of material object.
Title The title of the material is displayed.
Revision The revision identifier of the material.
Standard Material Number The standard identifier of the material.
Internal Material Number The internal identifier of the material.
Description A brief description of the material.
Owner The owner of the material.
State The material object's current state.
Manufacturer The manufacturer of the material.
Supplier Contact Shows the contact information for the supplier.

Materials Compliance Management can be configured to hide private data. If so, this field does not display.

Trade Name The trade name of the material.
State Change Comment Comments entered when the material is promoted using the Lifecycle page.
Specific Gravity The specific gravity of the material.
Originator The originator of the material object.
Originated The originated date of the material.
Modified The last modified date of the material.
Is Article Blank or Yes. Yes if this part is explicitly marked as an Article for the IP 1754 standard reporting.

You cannot edit this attribute for a Reported Material.

Import File The name of the import file used.
JAMP Use A JAMP AIS definition of how the material is used in parts
Policy

The policy governing the material object.

Vault

The vault containing the material object.

Recycled Content:
RRR Classification The RRR classification of the material. This field only displays when the ELV data option is active.
RRR Recycling Technology An indicator for RRR recycling technology for the material. This field only displays when the ELV data option is active.
Post-Industrial Recyclate % The percentage of post-industrial (i.e. pre-consumer) recycled content in the material. This is the industrial disposal that is recycled. If a value is entered in the text box it must be a positive integer between 0 and 100. The sum of post-industrial recycled content and post-consumer recycled content cannot exceed 100.
Post-Consumer Recyclate % The percentage of post-consumer recycled content in the material. This is the waste after the consumer uses it. If a value is entered in the text box it must be a positive integer between 0 and 100. The sum of post-industrial recycled content and post-consumer recycled content cannot exceed 100.
Contained Recyclate (Measured) % The percentage of as-released contained recyclate in the material. This property is automatically calculated as the sum of the post-industrial and post-consumer recycled content. The sum of the post-industrial and post-consumer recycled content cannot exceed 100%.
Contained Recyclate (Released) % The percentage of contained as measured recycled content in the material. This number is the sum of the post-industrial recycled content plus the post-consumer recycled content.
IMDS:
IMDS Miscellaneous Substance Remark A comment to be written out to IMDS if the material contains the miscellaneous substance.
IMDS Module ID The module ID of this material in IMDS.
IMDS Version The version of this material in IMDS.
IMDS Node ID The IMDS Node ID of this material in IMDS.
IMDS Cleared Status Indicates whether the material's IMDS IDs are cleared, and the method used to clear. Values are blank, "Cleared for Update" or "Cleared for Insert".
IMDS No Joker for GADSL "Yes" indicates that none of the joker substances in the material are used in place of GADSL substances.
Classifications Includes a row for each compliance type that lists the classification for that type. When editing this page, the list of classification is filtered by the selection for JAMP Use.
Compliances Contains a table that lists details about the compliance types:

Column Name Description
Compliance Type The compliance type name.
Compliance Definition The compliance definition.
Compliance Possible values:
  • Yes. The material is compliant.
  • Yes with Exemptions. The material is compliant but only because of an exemption.
  • No. The material is not compliant.
  • Unreported. The material is unreported.
  • Contains Unreported. The material references other materials that are unreported.
  • Out of Scope. The material is not considered for the given compliance definition.
  • Insufficient. The material has an assigned declaration level and the compliance definition is not part of the declaration level.
  • Contains Insufficient. The material references other materials that are insufficient.
Selected Applications Scope applications where this material is used.

Declaration Levels The declaration levels for the material.
Area Density The weight per area dimension. Displays only for internal covering materials.
Volume Density The weight per volume dimension. Displays only for internal core materials.

Actions/Toolbar Commands

Action Description
Edit Details Edits these details.

For an Internal Material, only the person who owns the material can edit it.

Clone Clones this material. You must define the new material title and revision level.
Roll Up Compliance Data Rolls up the compliances on this material.
