Inserting an Existing Object

You can insert objects such as references, representations, unified material and documents (Engineering and CBP documents) under a chapter. You can instantiate these PLM objects in the design contest using the catalog browser. You can also insert features and persistent queries in a chapter.

You can drag objects in a chapter. For more information about the drag, see Dragging Objects.

  1. Select a chapter from a catalog in the Design IP Classification app.
  2. To insert an existing object under the chapter, you can do one of the following:
    • Select Existing Object in the Edit section of the action bar.
    • Right-click the selected chapter and select Insert > Existing Object.

    A message appears.

  3. To select objects, you can do one of the following.
    • From the tabs, select objects attached to another product or from search result.
    • Type a search string in the Search box of the Bar and click Search . An immersive table appears. Select an objects from the immersive table.

    Select the Multiselection check box to enable multiple selection of objects. To add multiple objects simultaneously, select multiple objects from the search results list.

    Notes: The mouse pointer changes to when you select references, representations, unified material or documents and it changes to when you select an object other than references, representations, unified material or documents.

    The selected PLM object is inserted under the selected chapter.
