Opening a Catalog in the Catalog Browser

You can open a catalog or a general library from native apps, and browse chapters, items, general libraries, and general classes using the catalog browser. You can also create filters and insert items or objects using the catalog browser.

Before you begin: Open the catalog browser. For more information about how to access the catalog browser, see Accessing Catalog Browser.
Note: For general library, it is strongly recommended to use the Libraries instead of Catalog Browser to navigate on libraries and classes. For more information about how to access the libraries, see Working with Libraries.
  1. In the catalog browser, click Open .
    The Choose a Catalog or Chapter dialog box appears.
  2. In the box, type or select a catalog, chapter, library, or a class from the available list.

    Or

    Click More... to search for other catalogs and chapters.

    A message appears.
  3. To select a catalog, chapter, general library, or a general class, perform one of the following.
    • Select a catalog, chapter, general library, or a general class from an open tab or a search result.
    • Type a search string in the search box of the top bar and click Search. Select a catalog, chapter, library, or a class from the search result.

    Select the Multiselection check box to enable the multiple selection of catalogs, chapters, libraries or classes.

    Notes: The mouse pointer changes to when you select catalogs, chapters, libraries, or classes. The mouse pointer changes to if you select an object that cannot be opened in the catalog browser.

    The selected catalog, chapter, library, or a class appear in the catalog browser.

  4. Select a chapter or a class.
    The items in the chapter, or the objects in the class appear.

    You can insert the items or the objects to a design context.

    Note: For the current user, the catalog browser retains the catalog tree view of the last opened chapter.
  5. Optional: To activate the recursive display in the objects list, click Recursive Mode Deactivated .
    The mode changes to the recursive mode.

    All the chapters available under the selected catalog or chapter are displayed in the objects list.

  6. Optional: To activate the direct display in the objects list, click Recursive Mode Activated .
    The mode changes back to the direct mode.

    All the first level chapters in the selected chapter are displayed in the objects list.

    The following table defines the objects that are visible in the object list for a given selection in the tree:
