Inserting Classified Items from the Catalog Browser

You can instantiate and drag classified items from the Catalog Browser and insert it under a product structure by using the same Editors.

Insert Classified items from Catalog Browser using Insert

You can insert classified item from Catalog Browser. In this scenario, you can insert a reference from the Catalog Browser.

  1. Open the catalog browser.
    The Choose a Catalog or Chapter dialog box appears. For more information about how to open a catalog in Catalog Browser, see Opening a Catalog in the Catalog Browser.
  2. Choose a catalog from the search results list and click OK.
    The selected catalog is available in the Catalog Browser. The details of the number of items contained in each catalog or chapter content are available on the right side.
  3. To insert or replace the classified item within the product structure, right-click the selected classified item and select Use Items > Insert or Use Items > Replace.
  4. Select the product node in Product Structure Design.
    The reference is inserted under the selected node of the product structure.

    Or

    The selected node in the product structure is substituted with the reference of your choice. For more information about the Replace, see Product Structure Design : Working with Products : Replacing Products.

  5. Click Propagate to save the changes.
    Tip: The Multi-instantiation option is available in the Catalog Browser.
    • To activate the multi-usage, click (to toggle from deactivated to activated).
    • To deactivate the multi-usage, click (to toggle from activated to deactivated).
    • Press Esc, to deactivate the present instantiation process.

Insert Classified items from Catalog Browser using Drag

You can drag the classified item from the Catalog Browser to the Product Structure Design.

  1. Open the Catalog browser.
    The Choose a Catalog or Chapter dialog box appears.
  2. Choose a catalog from the search results list and click OK.
    The selected catalog is available in the Catalog Browser. The details of the number of items contained in each catalog or chapter content are available on the right side.
  3. Select a classified item.
  4. Drag the selected classified item.
  5. Select the product node in Product Structure Design.

    The classified item is inserted under the product . A success message appears.

  6. From the top bar, click Share > Save > Propagate to save the changes.
