Creating Images

You can create image resources by capturing an experience, importing images files, or creating engineering documents.

Create Images by Capturing an Experience

You can create image resources by capturing a part or the whole experience.

  1. In the tree, under Resources, right-click the Images node and select Capture image from capture.
  2. In the panel, specify the size of screenshot, and press OK.

    To display only the selected objects in the experience, click Only selected objects.

Create Images by Importing Image Files

You can create image resources by importing image files to your experience.

The following image files formats are supported:

  • JPEG (.jpeg or .jpg)
  • PNG
  • BMP
  • TIFF (.tif or .tiff)
  • RGB

Note: You cannot search for the created image unless it is associated with an engineering document.

  1. In the tree, under Resources, right-click the Images node and select Import image file.
  2. In the dialog box, select an image file and click Open.
    The Image Import dialog box appears to let you create a UI Image actor from the imported file.

Create Images by Generating Engineering Documents

To search for an image resource, you need to create an engineering document and associate the image file with the document.

  1. In the top bar, click Add > Content.
  2. Select Document > Engineering Document.
  3. Right-click Engineering Document and click Set attributes at creation.
  4. Click Engineering Document.
  5. Select an image in the Select file dialog box and click Save.

    Important: The Name attribute must be unique.

    The created document is saved in 3DEXPERIENCE and appears in the search results.
