Exposing Materials

When you insert a physical product in the experience, PLM materials may already be applied. To manipulate materials, you need to expose them in the experience.

You can only expose materials applied to products or 3D parts.

This process does the following:

  • PLM materials are exposed as experience materials. Experience materials reflect properties of PLM materials that can be modified in the experience context. Note that you cannot configure textures or substances.
  • Products to which materials are assigned are exposed as actors.
  • For each actor, material applications are created in the tree under the Applied Materials node.

In the tree or the 3D area, right-click an actor or a product (exposed or not) and select Expose > Expose materials .

Only materials of the selected part are exposed. Children levels are also included.
