Instantiating a Power Copy from a Catalog

You can instantiate a power copy from a catalog.


Before you begin:
  • You must have created a power copy and saved it in database.
  • You must have created a catalog containing the power copy.
  • To access the models used in this topic, import the Bounding_Box_Reference_000.3dxml and the Bounding_Box_Destination_000.3dxml files located in win_b64\startup\Knowledgeware\3D Templates Samples\Sample1.

How to use the Insert Object dialog box?
  1. Open the destination product.
  2. From the Tools section, click Catalog Browser .
    The Catalog Browser opens.
  3. Click More....
    The Choose a Catalog or Chapter window opens.
  4. Type the name of the catalog you are looking for and click Search.
  5. Select it from the list and click OK.
    The catalog appears in the Catalog Browser window.
  6. Double-click the desired catalog in the Item name list and click Close in the Catalog Browser window.
    The Insert Object dialog box appears.
  7. Select the inputs in the 3D area, Surface.1 in our example, and click OK.
    The power copy is instantiated.
    Important: The destination of the instantiation of items stored in a catalog can be:
    • A representation node
    • A geometrical feature
    • A geometrical feature set inside a representation.
