Exporting a Model to C Code

You can export models to C code format suitable for use with a range of simulation tools. The result is a stand-alone C code model possible to use on any platform without the need for a license on the target system.

Export by a Command

You can export a model to source code or C Code using a command.

  1. Activate a model from the Package Browser.
  2. From the Behavior Tools section of the action bar, click Export to C-Code .
    The Modelica Class C-Code Export dialog box is displayed.
  3. Browse to select the convenient location to store your C Code model files.
  4. Optional: You can create a new folder in the wanted location using the command Make New Folder.
  5. Select OK to export the model and close the dialog box.
    • A progress bar appears.
    • The Message Reporting window appears to let you know the export result.
    • If the export is successful, relevant files are created in the selected directory.

Export by Scripting

You can export a model to source code or C Code using scripting.

Note: Your model is always stored in the default directory when using scripting. For displaying and changing the default directory, see Create and Execute a Script.

  1. Open the Modelica Scripting Window, see Create and Execute a Script.
  2. Use the scripting function translateModelExport(model) where model is the name of the model that should be exported (including the path to the model, e. g. "Modelica.Blocks.Examples.PID_Controller").
  3. Execute the script, see the link in step 1.
