Finding Connections

From a selected connection line, you can search the connection and the corresponding connected components. This is useful for investigating, for example, large models where expandable connectors are used.


Before you begin: You work on a model with many or complex connections.
Tip: You can click the connection line to highlight it. See Highlighting Connections.

  1. In the diagram, right-click the connection line of the connection you want to investigate and select <className> (<classPath>) object > Find Connection.

    Note: The search is based on what is shown in the diagram when starting the search.

    The Find Connection dialog box displays:
    • In the Find connection in component box, the name of the component where you perform the search.
    • In the Highlight box, the searched text string.
    • In the Causality box, the causality.
    • In Hits, the number of hits.
    • In the Connection set pane, the connections that are found.
  2. To search, do the following:
    1. In the Highlight box, type the search string.
    2. Optional: In the Causality box, select the causality.
    The following is the result:
    • The connections matching Highlight and Causality are highlighted in the Connection set pane.
    • Nodes are expanded to display found occurrences.
    • If the connector is outside the component, information about this appears.
  3. In the Connection set pane, click a result.
    The corresponding component is highlighted in the diagram.

    If the component is inside another component than the displayed one, the Show Component command is activated automatically to display the diagram of that component to select the searched component.

    Note: This navigation does not influence the search result, you can still select another component.
    Tip: To go back to the original zooming, click the Find connection in component button.
