Working with the Parameter and Variable Editor

You can perform a number of actions in the Parameter and Variable Editor.

The Parameter and Variable Editor is an immersive dialog box which lists parameters, constants and variables for a selected component.

From this browser, you can edit, create, and delete parameters and variables of the active class.

Note: You can only edit parameters, constants and variables for the active class.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin:
  • From the Package Browser, select a class containing parameters.

    The components of the active class appear from the Component Browser.

  • From the Component Browser, select a component.

    The parameters, constants and variables of the selected component appear from the Parameter and Variable Editor.

Show or Hide the Parameter and Variable Editor

You can show or hide the Parameter and Variable Editor.

The Parameter and Variable Editor is displayed by default.

If minimized or not displayed, do the following:
  • If minimized, the Parameter and Variable Editor is represented by an icon on the right side of the screen. Click this icon to display it.
  • If not displayed, from the View section of the action bar, click Parameter and Variable Editor .
    Tip: You can also access this command from the App Options panel. To access the App Options panel, from the Tools section of the action bar, select App Options .

The Parameter and Variable Editor is displayed.

Tip: To hide the Parameter and Variable Editor, click again (from the action bar or the App Options panel) Parameter and Variable Editor , or close the editor. It can also be minimized, if not docked.

Show All Content

You can display all parameters of the selected component.

  1. Undock the Parameter and Variable Editor.
  2. Right-click the header and select Show All Columns.
    All columns are displayed.
  3. Resize the columns.


  4. If need be, you can hide columns using the context menu.

Filter Parameters, Constants and Variables

You can filter parameters, constants and variables.

By default, Show variables and Show parameters and constants are activated and both parameters, constants and variables appear from the Parameter and Variable Editor.

  1. From the Parameter and Variable Editor, deactivate Show variables .
    Constants and parameters only are displayed.
  2. Activate Show variables and deactivate Show parameters and constants .
    Continuous and discrete variables only are displayed.
