Duplicating Components

You can create a new part of a model by duplicating a number of components and continue to work with them.

Before you begin: Open a model with a number of components.

  1. Select the components you want to duplicate.

    For information about selection, see Selecting a Component.

  2. Right-click any of the selected components and select Duplicate .

    Tip: You can also use the shortcut Ctrl+D to perform this command.

    The components are duplicated, according to the following rules:
    • If a single component is duplicated, a new component of the same class as the original is created, with the same parameter values, but without any connections.
    • If multiple components are duplicated, the components and the connections between them are duplicated. For the endpoints of the multiple components there are two alternatives:
      • If the endpoints of the multiple components are components, they are duplicated without being connected.
      • If any endpoint of the multiple components is a connection (line), then the duplicated connection is still connected to the original component that is not duplicated.
