About Locking/Unlocking Designs

To perform any modification on a design, you should lock the design.

Locking the design does not make it read-only; it only specifies whether or not you can check a file into the object. Unlocking an object allows other users to modify the design.

If you lock/unlock from the CAD tool, that information is logged in the working set (see About Bookmark Roots and Bookmarks). This information includes the filename, directory, revision/iteration, and locked status for designs that you checked out.

You can lock or unlock only revision objects. The lock/unlock action is not available for iterations.

To find designs that you have locked, see Locked Objects Tab.

You often lock objects when checking them out. If your Integration Administrator has set up Rapid File Access, you can also lock them when using that feature.
