About Bookmark Roots and Bookmarks

A 3DEXPERIENCE bookmark root is a collection of bookmarks that contain documents and other information assembled to accomplish a particular business need. People from different companies can access the bookmark content.

Members of a bookmark root can collaborate and share information by participating in Web meetings and discussions, and by assigning tasks to each other.

Some of the features/functions of bookmark root include:

• Bookmark roots and bookmarks - Containers for documents and other items, such as Requests to Suppliers and Quotations. X-CAD Design Management always connects the revision object to the bookmark.
• Members - A member is anyone who is granted access to the bookmark root, including people from your company or from companies you collaborate with. A role can be assigned to a bookmark root, giving access to any person from your company with that role.
• Accessibility - The Bookmark policy only applies to the Bookmark Root and the Bookmark. The Bookmark lifecycle is designed to control the lifecycle and access to the Bookmark structure. It does not govern the lifecycle or access of the content or data. The data contained in the bookmark root or bookmarks is accessed or governed according to the policy of that data. However, creation of a new data and its deletion is restricted after "IN WORK" state of the bookmark root.
• Routes - A set of tasks that members of a bookmark root complete to accomplish a business activity. Routes can contain any item added to the bookmark, including documents and non-document items, such as RFQs and quotations.
• Web meetings - Members of a bookmark root can schedule, join, and manage Web meetings to conference with other people live and over the internet. Meeting attendees can share and mark up documents, give presentations, lead Web tours, demo applications, and share desktops.
• Subscriptions - Subscribing enables notifications whenever a specific event is performed for a bookmark root or a bookmark root component. See the Collaboration and Approvals User's Guide for information on subscriptions.
