Creating an EBOM from CAD Objects

You can automate the process of building an EBOM structure to match an existing CAD object structure.

EBOM Synch command is available only for revisions. You can perform this procedure only if you are assigned the CAD connector for the object type. You can also synchronize the EBOM from a CAD object on any page that lists objects and has an Actions > EBOM Sync menu.

Note: Engineering BOM app must be installed to perform EBOM Synchronization in X-CAD Design Management.

Creating a CAD Structure from an EBOM
  1. Search for the object you want to use to create an EBOM.
  2. From the Search Results page, click the name of the CAD object.
  3. Click Categories > Specifications. The list of specifications related to that object opens.
  4. From the page toolbar, click Actions > EBOM Sync.

If EBOMSync operation is successful, the following alert message appears: "EBOM has been created successfully". If EBOMSync operation fails, it displays Error message.

  5. Click Close.

When EBOM Synch is successful, EC part is connected to the revision object.

The part specification relationship floats automatically to the latest revision on release but the attributes between revisions sync to the latest revision only after performing sync.

Notes: An IEF-ExcludeFromBOM alert message for Navigate Page is displayed when you hover on alert symbol from Exclude from BOM column:
  • When you exclude a relationship from BOM, a message is displayed as Relationship is excluded from BOM. The same message is displayed to all subsequent child objects as the child objects are also excluded from BOM.
  • When you exclude an object from BOM, a message is displayed as Object is excluded from BOM.
Note: When you exclude both relationship and object, the relationship exclusion message is displayed.
