Editing Object Relationships

You can edit objects related to the current object using the Navigate tab.


Before you begin:
  1. View the object's Properties page. See Object Summary

  1. Click the Navigate tab.
  2. From the page toolbar, click Enable Edit.

    This button toggles the page between View and Edit mode.

    The Edit Actions menu and Mass Update toolbar is enabled.

    Tip: Cells that you can edit show with a red triangle in the top left corner.

    Any edits you make are not applied to the objects until you click Save. You can make any number of proposed changes to any combination of cells prior to applying them. If you change to View mode without applying your changes, the changes will be lost.

  3. In Edit mode, to update multiple objects:
    1. If you want to change several, but not all, objects, select the needed objects.
    2. Select the column whose value you want to edit from the Mass Update list. For example, suppose you choose the Owner column.
    3. Click . The Find People dialog box appears.
    4. Enter the search criteria and click Find.
    5. Select the needed user and click Submit.
    6. To apply the change, click:

      1. Apply to Selected - updates only those objects that are selected.
      2. Apply to All - updates all objects on the page whether or not they are selected.

  4. In Edit mode, to update a single table cell:
    1. Click in the cell. The column is highlighted with yellow and an edit box pops up over the selected cell. Depending on the type of data for the column, you could also see a list of choices.
    2. Type or select the new value.
    3. Tab, or click in another cell.

      The proposed change is shown in italics and the edit box closes.

  5. In Edit mode, use the Edit Actions menu to perform any of these tasks on the selected object:

    Add ExistingAdd an existing object as a child of the selected object.
    RemoveDisconnect this object from its parent object. For Remove only, you can select multiple objects on the page. Click OK to confirm. Removing an object does not delete it.
    ReplaceReplace the selected object with a different object.
    Replace Revision Replace the selected object with other revision of the same object.
    Note: You can create an object as a child of the selected object.

    At any point before you click Save, you can click Cancel to clear all edits.

    Important: To save the changes after you edit a structure, you must open the structure from ENOVIA and save it back in again to ENOVIA to confirm the modifications to the structure. The changes will not take effect if you click Refresh on the Navigate tab.

    Copy, Cut, and Paste cannot be used with the root object of the assembly.

    Copy Copy the selected object to paste as the child of another object.
    Cut Remove the selected object from its current location.
    Paste Paste a copied or cut object as a child of the selected object.
    Undo Undo the last action done on the selected object.

    Note: Do not use Copy from the menu bar. You can use Copy in Edit Action to copy an object.

    On an edited Navigator, you can see the following symbols:

    SymbolDescription
    Row is marked for removal using Remove, Cut, or Replace.
    One or more values in the row were changed.
    New row added using Add New, Add Existing, or Paste
    Row was moved (cut and pasted) from another location in the structure for the same parent.

    Note: Due to SolidEdge API limitations, modifications to a structure below an SE Assembly Instance using any "Add" / "Remove" operations are not correctly reflected in SolidEdge, if this structure is opened from ENOVIA.

  6. Click Save to save all changes.
