Applying Signatures

You can enter your comments and sign off the tasks that associated to an object so it can be promoted to the next state. This is applicable only for legacy and Customer-Specific Environment.

Before you begin:
  • View the lifecycle for the object you want to promote. See Viewing Object's Lifecycle.
  • Ensure that you have the appropriate permission to apply a signature on the child nodes of each selected root node. If a root node is signed, the signature is automatically applied to its children only if the user also has the appropriate permissions to sign the children. Promote fails if the signature is not applied for the child components of a selected root node.

If the user who is performing the promote operation does not have the appropriate permissions to sign the children implicitly, then, each node must be explicitly signed by the Design Reviewer for promoting successfully.

  1. In the Lifecycle page, click after the highlighted state. An Approval section appears at the bottom of the Lifecycle page, listing the required signatures.

The name of the needed signature is a link. If the signature name is not displayed as a link, the signature requirements do not apply to the current state.

  2. Click the signature to be applied.
    The Approval page appears
  3. Enter comments about the sign off action. If you reject the promotion, explain what needs to be done to make the promotion acceptable. If you ignore the signature, explain why the signature is not needed. Other users will see your comments when they view signatures for the object.
  4. Choose an approval action:
    • Approve - You approve the object's promotion.
    • Reject - You reject the object's promotion. Enter your reasons in the Comments box. The object cannot be promoted with a Reject signature.
    • Ignore - This signature requirement is not necessary for promotion.
  5. Click Done. The Approvals section of the Lifecycle page shows your username and any comments you entered.

If you chose an action that the object's policy does not allow you to perform or if you do not have access to fulfill this signature requirement, the system shows an error message.

Note: If the root or parent node is approved, then the same signature is applied to its child nodes even if a child node is explicitly rejected. It is assumed that if a parent node is approved, then the child nodes are also approved.
