Purging

You can permanently delete all the iterations except the latest iteration of CAD objects saved in X-CAD Design Management.

Only users with the appropriate roles can access the purge command.

Important: To delete iterations, you should only use the Purge command. To delete revisions, use the Delete Selected command. You can access this command from the Recently Checked In Files page, Locked Objects page, Related Models page, and Related Drawings page.

Only users with the following roles can perform the Purge operation:

  • Owner - Allowed in "Design Frozen" and "Design Release" state.
  • Leader - Allowed in "Under Global Design" and "Design Frozen" state.
  • Administrator - Allowed in "Design Frozen" and "Design Release" state.

After purging, all the selected iterations are deleted from the database. Purge cannot be done if the stream to be purged is locked by another user.

You can purge the following CAD objects:

  • Unlocked iterations of the CAD object
  • Iterations that do not have a baseline

  1. Select the object to purge and select Actions > Purge.

If you do not see the Purge option, you do not have the authority to purge objects.

    The Purge page appears.

  2. Select the objects to purge.
  3. From the page toolbar, click Purge.

If the designs you selected are used in other designs, a warning message lists the iterations to be purged and the corresponding parent assembly where each design is used.

  4. Click Close.
