Creating Rules for Cost Estimation

You can save process parameters in a rule to reuse them later in another additive process. These parameters include slicing step, recoating, and cost per kilogram.

Before you begin: Define your working environment by selecting a part, machine, and build tray. For more information, see Defining Your Working Environment.
  1. From the Analysis & Output section of the action bar, click Print Time and Cost Estimation .
  2. In the Print Time and Cost Estimation panel that appears, select Add New Rules .
  3. In the Rules Management panel that appears, type a name in the Rules name box, such as Cost Estimation Rules.1
  4. Expand the Built Time Estimation Rules tab and specify parameters such as:
    • Recoating Timer Per Layer
    • Non Solid Support Thickness
    • Slicing Step
  5. Expand the Cost Estimation Parameters tab and specify parameters such as:
    • Currency
    • Machine Preparation Cost
    • Machine Usage Cost
    • Support Removal Cost
    • Fixed Cost for Post Processing
    • Lost Powder Percentage
    • Product Density
    • Cost of Powder
  6. Optional: Expand the Scan Path Time Estimation Parameters tab and select an existing Scan Path Time Estimation Definition or add a new one by clicking Add Definition .
  7. Expand the Scan Parameters Definition tab and specify parameters such as:
    • The name.
    • Mean Scanning Speed
    • Hatching Step
  8. Click OK to validate.

Note: To import, export and reuse the created rules, use Rules Management . For more information, see Managing Rules.
