About New Panel Model Support in Edit Features

Input of Edit Features

You can select multiple manufactured items, design products, or a combination of both. Your input selection can be from the tree, auxiliary viewer, PPR spreadsheet editor, or the main 3D window.

Input Combinations

You can choose the required input selections from the following combinations of parts:

  • Design Product:
    • Physical product
    • New panel
    • Plate
    • Profile
  • Manufactured Item:
    • Manufacturing assembly
    • Manufactured part
    • Group process
  • Input Combinations (examples):
    • Some manufactured parts
    • New panel and plate
    • Manufactured part and new panel

Input before or after Launching

Input combinations are acceptable before launching Edit Features, however, for dynamic changes in input after launching, only single part is selectable. In a multiple input case, the corresponding manufactured parts are found internally from the inputs, then you can edit the features of the manufactured parts using Edit Features.

Edit Features Behavior

The behaviors of Edit Features differ depending on the type of input.

Available Edit Features Tabs

In Edit Features, the panel displays a list of the available feature tabs based on your input.

The available feature tabs for new input and multiple inputs:

Note: The lists of the other input option's available feature tabs (such as manufactured part, manufacturing assembly, or group process) remain the same.

Edit Features Input and Output Scenarios

Input and output cases:

  • Case 1: Single Input and Output

    Plate, profile, and manufactured part are all single inputs and the output of them is single. In this case, there is no change in behavior.

  • Case 2: Single Input – Multiple Outputs

    The new panel, manufacturing assembly, and group process could have multiple outputs. In this case, the behavior focuses on multiple outputs cases.

  • Case 3: Multiple Inputs and Outputs

    The behavior focuses on multiple outputs cases.

Edit Features Tabs with Multiple Inputs

There are various tab options to edit required manufactured parts based on the input.

After executing Edit Features, the Manufactured Parts panel appears:

Note: There are separate plate and profile tabs at the bottom of the panel. In multiple input cases, these separate tabs are helpful for simpler multicreation functionality on plates on the panel level (assembly) and on multiple plates. The edit features tabs support separate plate and profile tabs.

Edit Features Tabs:

In this scenario, select four manufactured parts of an exposed split plate and two manufactured parts of the profile in the PPR spread sheet. Click Edit Features.



  • Burnside Up tab

    For multiple inputs cases, separated tabs are supported between Plates and Profiles. There are four rows in the plate tab that are from four manufactured parts. In the profile tab, two rows are there from two inputs.



    The Burnside up (BSU) in each tab show the different parts. You can select multiple rows and edit the BSU directions at a time. (Available multiple selection and versions in other feature tabs). In the panel, the Burnside Up (BSUs) listed are the different parts based on the input. Select multiple rows at once and you can edit the BSU directions correspondingly.

  • Opening Preparation tab

    The tab lists all openings from multiple inputs.

  • Attachment Line tab

    The tab lists all attachment lines from multiple inputs.

  • Alignment Line tab

    The tab lists all alignment lines from multiple inputs.

  • Reference Line tab

    The tab lists all reference lines from multiple inputs.

  • Positive/Negative Margin tabs

    There are different columns for plate and profile margins. So, separated tabs are between plate and profile margin.



    • Using Multicreation functionality helps in generating margins on plates on the panel level (assembly) and on multiple plates.

    • To use multicreation functionality, press the Ctrl key and select the edges to create margin (Holding down the Ctrl key). Releasing the key, the margin creation dialog pops up including the selected edge list and margin value, then click OK.
  • Edge Preparation tab
    • Multicreation functionality helps in generating multiple edge preparations on plates on the panel level (assembly) and on multiple plates.

    • You can simplify multicreation functionality using trapping.

    • Drag the mouse to select the required edges. The Edge preparation creation window appears when LMB releases. Change the edge prep type that applies to the selected edges and click OK.

    • Use two ways, Ctrl+Selection and trapping for multicreation of margin and edge preparation.
